Answer (1 of 2): The easiest way simply plug your B500 directly into your PC Mac or Laptop via USB. Or you can remove the Card and use a Card Reader. Enjoy your Photography! I used to use Nikon Transfer to transfer photos from my Nikon (Coolpix P5100) to my computer (Mac) and it was easy. Now I have upgraded to OS 10.5.8. Why do they have to make it so complicated? I now have to use ViewNX 2 but I can't figure out how to do it. On the View NX 2 screen there's a camera icon labeled Transfer but it is grayed out.

  2. Press the multi selector to the left to highlight the menu tab, select the setup tab, and press the OK button.
  3. Select Firmware version in the setup menu and press the OK button.
  4. Turn off the camera.

Power the camera from AC adapter unit or use a fully charged battery.

  1. Create a new folder with an appropriate name on your computer's hard drive.
  2. Download the Windows (.EXE) or Mac (.DMG) file from the links at the bottom of this page to the folder created in step 1.
  3. Run the downloaded file to create a folder called L 830Update which contains the firmware folder .
  4. Use a card reader or similar device to copy the firmware folder to the root directory of a memory card formatted in the camera.
  5. Insert the memory card into the camera's memory card slot and turn on the camera.
  6. Select Firmware version in the camera's setup menu and follow instructions displayed to upgrade the firmware.
  7. After the upgrade is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  8. Access the Firmware version item in the camera's setup menu to confirm that the firmware has been upgraded.
